- 1 bag (9.25 oz) Fritos corn chips
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) chili beans, drained
- 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes with green chilies
- 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream (optional, for serving)
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions (for garnish)
- 1/4 cup sliced jalapeños (optional, for topping)
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
Add diced onion and minced garlic; cook for 2 minutes until softened.
Stir in the chili beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and taco seasoning. Simmer for 5 minutes, allowing flavors to blend.
In a 9x13-inch baking dish, spread half of the Fritos evenly across the bottom.
Pour the beef mixture over the Fritos and spread evenly.
Sprinkle half of the cheese over the beef mixture.
Add the remaining Fritos on top and finish with the rest of the cheese.
Bake uncovered for 15 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Garnish with sour cream, green onions, and jalapeños if desired.
Serve warm and enjoy!
-
You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or shredded chicken for a lighter version.
-
For extra spice, add a dash of hot sauce or extra jalapeños.
-
Make it vegetarian by using black beans or plant-based crumbles instead of ground beef.
