Frito Pie is a simple yet delicious Tex-Mex dish featuring Fritos, chili, cheese, and toppings baked into a comforting casserole.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 bag (9.25 oz) Fritos corn chips
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) chili beans, drained
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes with green chilies
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (optional, for serving)
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (for garnish)
  • 1/4 cup sliced jalapeños (optional, for topping)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
  • Add diced onion and minced garlic; cook for 2 minutes until softened.
  • Stir in the chili beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and taco seasoning. Simmer for 5 minutes, allowing flavors to blend.
  • In a 9x13-inch baking dish, spread half of the Fritos evenly across the bottom.
  • Pour the beef mixture over the Fritos and spread evenly.
  • Sprinkle half of the cheese over the beef mixture.
  • Add the remaining Fritos on top and finish with the rest of the cheese.
  • Bake uncovered for 15 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  • Garnish with sour cream, green onions, and jalapeños if desired.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or shredded chicken for a lighter version.
  • For extra spice, add a dash of hot sauce or extra jalapeños.
  • Make it vegetarian by using black beans or plant-based crumbles instead of ground beef.
