Ingredients

  • 6 cups fresh peaches (peeled and sliced) or canned peaches, drained
  • 1 cup sugar (divided)
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Toss peaches with 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
  • Pour melted butter into a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a bowl, mix flour, remaining sugar, baking powder, salt, and milk until smooth.
  • Pour batter over butter without stirring.
  • Spoon peaches evenly on top of batter. Do not mix.
  • Bake for 40–45 minutes until crust is golden brown and bubbly.
  • Serve warm, optionally with ice cream.

Notes

  • Fresh peaches give the best flavor, but canned or frozen work too.
  • Do not stir batter and fruit; it creates the cobbler’s signature crust.
  • Adjust sugar based on peach sweetness.
  • Serve warm for the best experience.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated.
