Ingredients
  

For the Marinade

  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 Asian pear, grated
  • 1 small onion, grated
  • 6 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped

For the Beef

  • 3 pounds Korean-style beef short ribs (flanken cut)

Garnish

  • Toasted sesame seeds
  • Sliced green onions

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, grated pear, grated onion, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, rice vinegar, green onions, and black pepper. Stir until well combined.
  • Place the short ribs in a large resealable bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the ribs, ensuring they are fully coated. Refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight.
  • Heat a grill to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grates.
  • Remove the ribs from the marinade and shake off excess liquid. Grill for 3–4 minutes per side until nicely charred and cooked through.
  • Allow the ribs to rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve with rice, lettuce leaves, and Korean side dishes.
