Harira Soup – A Hearty, Aromatic Tomato, Lentil,
Shruthi
Harira is a traditional Moroccan soup made with tomatoes, chickpeas, lentils, fresh herbs, and warming spices. Often enriched with small pieces of lamb or beef, it has a thick, hearty texture that makes it both filling and nutritious. The soup is simmered slowly to allow the flavors to blend beautifully. Fresh cilantro and parsley add brightness, while spices such as turmeric, ginger, and cinnamon create warmth and depth. A flour slurry is sometimes added near the end to give the soup its signature velvety consistency. Harira is typically served hot with lemon wedges and crusty bread. This comforting dish is perfect for cold evenings or special cultural meals.
