Ingredients
  

  • 500 g ground beef
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 can (400 g) diced tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup beer (lager or amber)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 can (400 g) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (400 g) black beans, drained and rinsed

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  • Add onion and bell pepper; sauté until soft. Add garlic and cook briefly.
  • Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart. Drain excess fat if needed.
  • Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  • Add tomato paste and cook for 1–2 minutes.
  • Pour in beer and simmer for 3–4 minutes to reduce slightly.
  • Add diced tomatoes, beef broth, and beans. Stir well.
  • Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 45–60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Adjust seasoning and serve hot.

  • Use lean beef to reduce excess fat.
  • Choose a mild beer for balanced flavour.
  • Simmer longer for thicker chili.
  • Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  • Flavour improves after resting.
