Ingredients

  • 500 gram boneless chicken (breast or thighs), cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey (or brown sugar)
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp minced ginger
  • tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (for thickening)
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for cooking)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Prepare the sauce: In a bowl, mix hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
  • Cook the chicken: Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook until golden brown and fully cooked (about 6–8 minutes).
  • Add the sauce: Pour the hoisin sauce mixture over the chicken and stir to coat evenly.
  • Thicken the sauce: Mix cornstarch with water, then stir into the pan. Simmer until the sauce thickens (about 2 minutes).
  • Garnish & serve: Sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve with rice or noodles.

Notes

  • Use chicken thighs for juicier results.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less honey.
  • Spice it up with extra red pepper flakes or a dash of Sriracha.
