Ingredients
  

For the Veggie Patties

  • 2 cups cooked black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small carrot, grated
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro or parsley
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For Serving

  • 4 burger buns
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Red onion slices
  • Avocado slices
  • Vegan mayonnaise or burger sauce

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher, leaving some texture for better consistency.
  • Add breadcrumbs, onion, carrot, garlic, tomato paste, smoked paprika, cumin, soy sauce, cilantro, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into burger patties.
  • Refrigerate for 15 minutes to help the patties hold together during cooking.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook patties for 4–5 minutes per side until crispy and golden brown.
  • Lightly toast burger buns for extra flavor and texture.
  • Layer buns with lettuce, veggie patties, tomatoes, onions, avocado, and burger sauce. Serve warm.
