Ingredients
2
cup
all-purpose flour
1
tbsp
baking powder
1/2
tsp
baking soda
1
tsp
salt
1/2
cup
unsalted butter (cold and cubed)
3/4
cup
buttermilk (cold)
1
tbsp
melted butter (for brushing)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients and cut it in using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Pour in the cold buttermilk and stir until the dough comes together.
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times.
Roll the dough to about 1-inch thickness and cut out biscuits using a round cutter.
Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet, close together for soft sides or spaced apart for crisp edges.
Brush the tops with melted butter.
Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
For extra flaky biscuits, ensure your butter and buttermilk are very cold. You can also freeze the dough for 10 minutes before baking.
