Cuisine American
- 4 boneless pork chops (about 1-inch thick)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 apples, sliced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp preferred)
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon butter
Prepare Pork Chops: Season pork chops with salt and pepper on both sides.
Sear the Meat: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sear pork chops for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
Sauté Apples and Onions: In the same skillet, add butter, sliced apples, and onions. Cook until softened and lightly caramelized.
Make the Glaze: Add honey, apple cider vinegar, apple juice, Dijon mustard, and cinnamon. Stir well and simmer for 2–3 minutes.
Combine: Return pork chops to the skillet and spoon the glaze over them. Simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the chops.
Serve: Garnish with fresh thyme and serve hot with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.
- Choose firm apples to prevent them from becoming mushy while cooking.
- Use bone-in pork chops for extra juiciness if preferred.
- Adjust honey quantity to balance sweetness.
- A splash of white wine can elevate the glaze flavour.
- Best served immediately while the glaze is warm and glossy.
