  • 2-3 rashers of smoked bacon (optional, for added flavor)

  • Olive oil
  • 25 grms unsalted butter
  • 1-2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese optional
  • Toasted almonds or pine nuts optional

Instructions
 

  • 1. Prep the Brussel Sprouts:Trim the stalk ends of the Brussel sprouts and remove any discolored outer leaves.Slice them in half for quicker cooking and better caramelization.
  • 2. Cook the Bacon (Optional):If using bacon, chop it into small pieces and fry in a large pan over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving the fat in the pan.
  • 3. Sauté the Garlic:Add a drizzle of olive oil to the pan with the bacon fat (or just olive oil if skipping bacon). Add the sliced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned.
  • 4. Cook the Brussel Sprouts:Add the halved Brussel sprouts to the pan, cut-side down. Cook on medium heat for 5-7 minutes without stirring, allowing the cut sides to caramelize.Stir the sprouts gently, then add the butter for richness. Continue cooking for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sprouts are tender and golden.
  • 5. Add Balsamic Vinegar:Drizzle the balsamic vinegar over the sprouts and toss to coat. This adds a tangy, sweet glaze that complements the earthy flavor of the sprouts.
  • 6. Season and Serve:Return the crispy bacon to the pan if using, and season with salt and pepper to taste.For extra flair, top with grated Parmesan or toasted nuts before serving.
