Linda's Lasagna

Linda’s Lasagna combines pasta, meat sauce, ricotta, and mozzarella, layered and baked until bubbly. It’s hearty, comforting, and a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients
  

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cans (15 oz each) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions
 

  • Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  • In a skillet, brown beef, sausage, onion, and garlic. Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.
  • In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and half the Parmesan.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread a layer of sauce in a baking dish.
  • Layer noodles, ricotta mixture, meat sauce, and mozzarella. Repeat layers.
  • Finish with noodles, sauce, mozzarella, and remaining Parmesan.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Uncover and bake 20 minutes more until bubbly.
  • Rest for 15 minutes before slicing. Garnish with basil or parsley.

  • Let lasagna rest before serving to hold its shape.
  • Use whole milk ricotta for a creamier texture.
  • Fresh herbs add a brighter flavor than dried.
  • Grate your own cheese for the best melt.
  • Leftovers taste even better the next day.
