Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup seafood stock or chicken stock
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp Creole seasoning
  • ½ tsp dried thyme
  • ¼–½ tsp cayenne pepper (to taste)
  • 1½ lbs shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 tbsp chopped green onions
  • Cooked white rice, for serving

Instructions
 

  • Heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add onion, bell pepper, and celery; sauté until softened.
  • Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  • Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, stock, bay leaves, paprika, Creole seasoning, thyme, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
  • Simmer uncovered for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove bay leaves and adjust seasoning.
  • Garnish with parsley and green onions.
  • Serve hot over rice.

  • Use fresh Gulf shrimp for best flavour.
  • Creole seasoning adds depth without overpowering.
  • Do not overcook shrimp—they cook quickly.
  • Sauce thickens as it simmers.
