- 1 ½ sleeves saltine crackers (about 45–50 crackers), crushed
- ½ cup butter (1 stick), melted
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 stalks celery, finely chopped
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 2 cups chicken or turkey broth (more if needed)
- 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
Preheat Oven: Set oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a medium baking dish with butter.
Sauté Vegetables: In a skillet, melt butter and cook onions and celery until soft and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
Mix Crackers: In a large bowl, combine crushed crackers with sautéed vegetables.
Add Seasoning: Stir in poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Combine Eggs and Broth: In a separate bowl, whisk eggs with broth, then pour over the cracker mixture. Stir until evenly moistened. Add more broth if mixture seems dry.
Bake: Pour into prepared dish and bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, or until golden brown on top and set in the center.
Serve: Let rest for 5 minutes before serving warm alongside roast turkey or chicken.
- Saltines create a delicate, flaky texture that’s lighter than bread dressing.
- Adjust broth amount depending on how moist you prefer your dressing.
- Add cooked sausage, mushrooms, or boiled eggs for extra flavor.
- Use turkey drippings instead of broth for deeper taste.
- Leftovers reheat beautifully in the oven or microwave.
