- 2 cups Japanese short-grain rice
- 2½ cups water
- Salt, to taste
- Nori sheets, cut into strips
Fillings (choose one or more):
- Umeboshi (pickled plum)
- Tuna mixed with mayonnaise
- Grilled salmon, flaked
- Teriyaki chicken
- Seaweed salad
Rinse rice until water runs clear and cook with water.
Let rice cool slightly until warm.
Wet hands lightly and sprinkle with salt.
Take a portion of rice, add filling in the center.
Gently shape into a triangle or round.
Wrap with nori just before serving.
