For the Peach Topping

  • 4 ripe peaches, peeled and sliced
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

For the Cake Batter

  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.

  • In a separate bowl, cream softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients, alternating with milk, and mix until just combined.
  • Spread the batter evenly over the peach layer.
  • Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
