For the Topping:

  • ¾ cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup sliced pepperoni (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  • Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
  • Knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–2 hours until doubled.
  • Generously oil a 9–10 inch round cake pan or cast iron skillet.
  • Press dough into the pan evenly. Let rest 15–20 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Spread sauce over dough, then add cheese and toppings.
  • Bake 20–25 minutes until crust is golden and cheese bubbly.
