Prosciutto and Mozzarella Grilled Cheese

Ingredients
  

  • 4 slices of rustic or sourdough bread
  • 6–8 slices prosciutto
  • 4–6 oz fresh mozzarella or low-moisture mozzarella
  • 2 tbsp softened butter

Optional:

  • basil leaves, tomato slices, pesto spread, black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Butter one side of each bread slice.
  • Layer mozzarella and prosciutto on the unbuttered side of two slices.
  • Add optional basil or pesto if desired.
  • Top with remaining bread slices, buttered side outward.
  • Place sandwiches in the air fryer basket.
  • Cook for 4–5 minutes, flip, then cook another 3–4 minutes until golden and melty.
  • Remove, rest for 1 minute, slice, and serve.

Notes

  • Fresh mozzarella may release moisture—pat it dry for the best texture.
  • Low-moisture mozzarella gives a crispier finish.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer; cook in batches if needed.
  • Adjust time slightly based on air fryer model.
  • Sourdough or rustic bread holds up best to the fillings.
