Ingredients

  • 2 lbs pork shoulder (or pork butt)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 12 slider buns
  • ½ cup coleslaw (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Pork: Rub the pork shoulder with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and brown sugar.
  • Slow Cooking Method:
Heat olive oil in a pan and sear the pork for 2-3 minutes per side.
Place in a slow cooker with chicken broth and apple cider vinegar.
Cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4-5 hours until the pork is tender.
  • Oven Method:
    Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
Place the pork in a roasting dish, cover with foil, and bake for 3-4 hours, until fork-tender.
  • Shred & Sauce:
Shred the cooked pork with two forks and mix with barbecue sauce.
  • Assemble Sliders:
Place a generous amount of pulled pork on each slider bun.
Top with coleslaw (optional) and serve.

Notes

  • For extra smokiness, add liquid smoke or use a smoked barbecue sauce.
  • Let the pork rest for 10-15 minutes before shredding to retain moisture.
