Ingredients

  • 9 cups crispy rice cereal (such as Chex)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1½ cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter.
  • Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth and melted.
  • Stir in vanilla extract.
  • Pour the chocolate mixture over the cereal in a large bowl. Gently stir until all cereal pieces are evenly coated.
  • Transfer the mixture to a large zip-top bag or container with a lid.
  • Add powdered sugar, seal the bag, and shake until the cereal is fully coated.
  • Spread Puppy Chow on a baking sheet to cool. Store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Use rice or corn cereal for the best crunch.
  • Don’t overheat the chocolate — it can seize quickly.
  • Allow the mixture to cool completely before storing.
  • Add more powdered sugar if you prefer a sweeter coating.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to one week.
