Ingredients

  • 1 package (2¼ tsp) rapid-rise yeast
  • ¾ cup warm water (110°F/43°C)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (plus more for brushing)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Activate Yeast: In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  • Mix Dough: Add melted butter, egg, salt, and half the flour. Mix until smooth. Gradually stir in remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead: Turn onto a floured surface and knead for 5 minutes until elastic.
  • Shape Rolls: Divide dough into 12 equal pieces. Shape into balls and place on a greased baking sheet.
  • Rise: Cover with a towel and let rise in a warm spot for 15–20 minutes.
  • Bake: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake rolls for 12–15 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Finish: Brush warm rolls with melted butter before serving.

Notes

  • Rapid-rise yeast shortens proofing time dramatically.
  • Make sure the water is warm but not hot — it should feel like bathwater.
  • Use a stand mixer with a dough hook to save time.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the microwave for 10 seconds to restore softness.
