  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 6 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions
 

  • Remove the prime rib roast from the refrigerator about 2 hours before cooking to bring it to room temperature.
  • Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  • In a bowl, combine olive oil, garlic, rosemary, thyme, salt, pepper, onion powder, and smoked paprika.
  • Rub the seasoning mixture evenly over the entire roast.
  • Place the roast fat-side up on a roasting rack inside a roasting pan.
  • Roast at 450°F for 20 minutes to develop a crust.
