Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4–5 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  • In a bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm milk. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  • Stir in melted butter, eggs, and salt. Mix well.
  • Gradually add flour until dough forms a soft, elastic ball.
  • Knead dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.
  • Punch down dough and shape into rolls. Place on greased baking sheet.
  • Cover and let rise for another 45 minutes.
  • Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Brush hot rolls with melted butter before serving.

Notes

  • Use warm milk, not hot, to activate yeast.
  • Dough should be soft but not sticky.
  • Letting dough rise twice ensures fluffy texture.
  • Brushing butter on top adds flavor and shine.
  • Rolls are best served warm.
