Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and garlic powder (if using). Stir well.
  • Add the ground sausage, shredded cheddar cheese, melted butter, and milk to the dry ingredients. Mix thoroughly until everything is evenly combined.
  • Scoop out small portions of the mixture and roll them into 1-inch balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Remove from the oven and let the sausage balls cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Use freshly shredded cheese for the best texture and flavor.
  • If the mixture feels too dry, add a tablespoon of milk at a time until it holds together.
  • For a spicier kick, use hot sausage or add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
