Ingredients
  

  • 4 large potatoes (thinly sliced)
  • 2 cups milk (or cream for richer taste)
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (optional, for cheesy version)
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a baking dish.
  • Melt butter in a pan, sauté onion and garlic until fragrant.
  • Add flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring continuously.
  • Gradually pour in milk, whisking to avoid lumps.
  • Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish.
  • Repeat layers and top with cheese (if using).
  • Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  • Remove foil and bake another 20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  • Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
