Cuisine American
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 6 cups crisp rice cereal
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup butterscotch chips
Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan and set aside.
In a saucepan, combine corn syrup and sugar over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the mixture just begins to bubble.
Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter until smooth.
Add crisp rice cereal and mix until evenly coated.
Press the mixture firmly into the prepared pan.
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt chocolate and butterscotch chips together in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
Spread the melted topping evenly over the bars.
Allow the bars to cool and set completely before cutting into squares.
- Do not overheat the syrup mixture—boiling makes bars hard.
- Use smooth peanut butter for a uniform texture.
- For a twist, add a pinch of sea salt over the chocolate layer.
- Store at room temperature for up to a week.
- Refrigerate for a firmer texture if preferred.
