Ingredients
  

For the Beef and Slaw

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • ½ medium green cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 1 large carrot, julienned or shredded
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds

For the Sauce

  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon chili garlic sauce or sriracha
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon cornstarch, optional

Instructions
 

  • Thinly slice the cabbage and onion.Shred or julienne the carrot.
  • Mince the garlic, grate the ginger, and slice the green onions.Set everything aside so the cooking process moves quickly.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, honey, chili garlic sauce, and black pepper.
  • Add the ground beef and cook for approximately 5–7 minutes, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon until browned and cooked through.
  • Add the sliced onion to the skillet and cook for 2–3 minutes.
  • Cook for another 30–60 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add the sliced cabbage and shredded carrots to the skillet.
  • Toss everything together and cook for approximately 5–7 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and vegetables.
  • Cook for another 2–3 minutes until the sauce is hot and slightly thickened.
  • Stir in half of the sliced green onions.
  • Serve immediately with extra green onions, cilantro, sesame seeds, and a squeeze of lime if desired.
