Ingredients
  

  • 1 unbaked pie crust
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, cold
  • 1 cup molasses
  • ¾ cup hot water
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • In a bowl, mix flour and brown sugar; cut in butter until crumbly.
  • Dissolve baking soda in hot water and stir into molasses.
  • Pour molasses mixture into the unbaked pie crust.
  • Sprinkle crumb mixture evenly over the top.
  • Bake for 40–45 minutes until set and lightly golden.
  • Cool before slicing for best texture.
