- 1 unbaked pie crust
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, cold
- 1 cup molasses
- ¾ cup hot water
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
In a bowl, mix flour and brown sugar; cut in butter until crumbly.
Dissolve baking soda in hot water and stir into molasses.
Pour molasses mixture into the unbaked pie crust.
Sprinkle crumb mixture evenly over the top.
Bake for 40–45 minutes until set and lightly golden.
Cool before slicing for best texture.
