  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

Barbecue Glaze

  • 1½ cups barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs and pat them dry with paper towels.
  • Rub the ribs with olive oil.
  • Mix the dry rub ingredients and coat both sides of the ribs evenly.
  • Wrap the ribs tightly in aluminum foil and place them on a baking tray.
  • Bake for 2½ to 3 hours, or until the ribs are fork-tender.
  • Mix the barbecue sauce, honey, apple cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Remove the ribs from the foil and brush generously with the barbecue glaze.
  • Increase the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C) and bake uncovered for 15–20 minutes, brushing with more sauce halfway through, until the glaze is caramelized.
  • Let the ribs rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Remove the membrane for more tender ribs.
  • Wrap the ribs tightly to retain moisture.
  • Apply barbecue sauce only during the final cooking stage.
  • Baby back ribs cook faster than spare ribs.
  • Rest the ribs before slicing to keep them juicy.
  • Homemade barbecue sauce adds extra flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
  • These ribs freeze well for up to 3 months.
