  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

For Frying

  • Vegetable oil for deep frying

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl, combine buttermilk, hot sauce, salt, and pepper.
  • Add chicken pieces and coat thoroughly.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight.
  • In a separate bowl, combine flour and seasonings.
  • Remove chicken from the marinade and allow excess liquid to drip off.
  • Dredge each piece thoroughly in the seasoned flour mixture.
  • Let coated chicken rest for 10 minutes.
  • Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep skillet or Dutch oven.
  • Fry chicken in batches without overcrowding.
  • Cook for 12–15 minutes per side or until golden brown and fully cooked.
  • Drain on a wire rack.
  • Serve hot and crispy.
