Tawa Paneer Masala is a spicy and aromatic Indian dish made with soft paneer cubes cooked in a rich, flavorful masala on a tawa (griddle). Perfect for serving with naan, roti, or rice.

Ingredients
  

  • 200 gram paneer (cottage cheese), cubed
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, finely chopped
  • green bell pepper (capsicum), chopped
  • red bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • ½ tsp garam masala
  • ½ tsp kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
  • 2 tbsp tomato puree
  • 2 tbsp fresh cream (optional)
  • 2 tbsp oil or butter
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander for garnish
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil or butter on a tawa (griddle) over medium heat.
  • Add cumin seeds and let them crackle.
  • Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  • Stir in ginger-garlic paste and cook until fragrant.
  • Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft.
  • Mix in tomato puree, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Stir well.
  • Add bell peppers and green chilies, sauté for 2-3 minutes to retain a slight crunch.
  • Add paneer cubes and mix gently to coat them in the masala.
  • Sprinkle garam masala and kasuri methi, then mix well.
  • Drizzle fresh cream (if using) and stir gently.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with naan, roti, or jeera rice.

Notes

  • Use homemade or fresh paneer for the best texture.
  • If you don’t have a tawa, you can cook this in a regular pan or wok.
