Tawa Paneer Masala is a spicy and aromatic Indian dish made with soft paneer cubes cooked in a rich, flavorful masala on a tawa (griddle). Perfect for serving with naan, roti, or rice.

- 200 gram paneer (cottage cheese), cubed
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 tomato, finely chopped
- green bell pepper (capsicum), chopped
- red bell pepper, chopped
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- ½ tsp cumin seeds
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- ½ tsp garam masala
- ½ tsp kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
- 2 tbsp tomato puree
- 2 tbsp fresh cream (optional)
- 2 tbsp oil or butter
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander for garnish
- Lemon wedges for serving
Heat oil or butter on a tawa (griddle) over medium heat.
Add cumin seeds and let them crackle.
Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
Stir in ginger-garlic paste and cook until fragrant.
Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft.
Mix in tomato puree, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Stir well.
Add bell peppers and green chilies, sauté for 2-3 minutes to retain a slight crunch.
Add paneer cubes and mix gently to coat them in the masala.
Sprinkle garam masala and kasuri methi, then mix well.
Drizzle fresh cream (if using) and stir gently.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with naan, roti, or jeera rice.

If you don’t have a tawa, you can cook this in a regular pan or wok.
