Steamed carrots are a simple, healthy, and delicious side dish. Perfectly tender and naturally sweet, they complement any meal and are ready in just minutes!

Ingredients
  

  • 4 large carrots, peeled and sliced into rounds or sticks
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp salt (optional)
  • 1 tbsp butter or olive oil (optional)
  • 1 tsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp honey (optional, for extra sweetness)

Instructions
 

  • Peel and slice carrots into rounds or sticks, ensuring even sizes for uniform cooking.
  • Add water to a steaming basket or saucepan and bring to a boil.
  • Place the carrots in the steaming basket and cover with a lid.
  • Steam for 5-7 minutes, or until carrots are tender but not mushy.
  • Remove from heat and transfer to a serving dish.
  • Optionally, toss with butter or olive oil and season with salt, pepper, and honey.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • For softer carrots, steam for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  • Baby carrots can be used instead of sliced carrots but may require extra cooking time.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
