Ingredients
  

  • 6 cups cubed bread (brioche or challah preferred)
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries (sliced)
  • 5 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp melted butter

Instructions
 

  • Grease a baking dish with butter.
  • Spread half the bread cubes in the dish.
  • Add a layer of strawberries, then remaining bread.
  • In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Pour the custard evenly over the bread.
  • Press gently to soak all pieces.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • Add crumb topping if using.
  • Bake for 40–45 minutes until golden and set.
  • Cool slightly and serve warm.
