  • 1 large bag tortilla chips
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack or mozzarella
  • ½ cup cooked black beans or refried beans
  • ½ cup sliced jalapeños
  • ½ cup diced tomatoes or pico de gallo
  • ¼ cup sliced black olives
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped

For serving:

  • Salsa

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine steak with olive oil, chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the steak for 4–6 minutes until browned and tender. Remove from heat.
  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • Spread tortilla chips evenly on a large baking tray.
  • Sprinkle half the cheese over the chips, then layer steak, beans, jalapeños, tomatoes, and olives.

  • Bake for 10–12 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve immediately with sour cream, guacamole, and salsa.

Notes

  • Freshly shredded cheese melts better than packaged cheese.
  • Flank or sirloin steak provides the best texture.
  • Serve immediately to prevent soggy chips.
  • Adjust spice levels to suit your taste.
  • Use a wide tray for even layering.
