Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 recommended)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • ½ cup tomato sauce or water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (if using lean meat)

Instructions
 

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add olive oil if needed, then sauté chopped onions until soft.
  • Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  • Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  • Brown until fully cooked (about 6–8 minutes).
  • Drain excess grease if necessary.
  • Stir in tomato sauce or water.
  • Simmer for 3–5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  • Finish with lime juice and adjust seasoning before serving.
