Tipsy Peaches – A Sweet, Boozy Peach Dessert with a Rich Bourbon and Brown Sugar Glaze

Shruthi
Tipsy Peaches is an easy skillet dessert featuring fresh peaches simmered in a buttery brown sugar sauce flavored with bourbon, vanilla, cinnamon, and a hint of lemon juice. The alcohol adds depth and complexity while much of it cooks off during simmering, leaving behind a warm, rich flavor. The peaches become soft and juicy, creating a luscious topping that pairs beautifully with ice cream, pound cake, cheesecake, waffles, or yogurt. Ready in less than 30 minutes, this dessert is ideal for both casual family meals and special occasions. Every spoonful delivers the perfect combination of sweet fruit, buttery caramel, and aromatic spices.

Ingredients

  • 6 fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup bourbon, dark rum, or brandy
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter until it begins to bubble.
  • Add the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the mixture becomes smooth.
  • Stir in the sliced peaches and cook for 5–7 minutes until they begin to soften.
  • Carefully pour in the bourbon, rum, or brandy. Stir well and allow the mixture to simmer for 3–5 minutes so the alcohol cooks down and the flavors blend.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract and lemon juice. Continue cooking until the sauce thickens into a glossy glaze.
  • Serve warm over vanilla ice cream, pound cake, pancakes, waffles, French toast, cheesecake, or Greek yogurt.

Notes

  • Fresh ripe peaches provide the best flavor.
  • Firm-ripe peaches hold their shape better during cooking.
  • Most of the alcohol cooks off, leaving a rich flavor.
  • Bourbon gives a classic Southern taste.
  • Rum creates a sweeter caramel flavor.
  • Brandy adds a smooth, fruity depth.
  • Adjust the sugar based on the sweetness of the peaches.
  • Best served warm immediately after cooking.
