- 1/4 cup basmati rice
- 1 liter full-fat milk
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 4 green cardamom pods (crushed)
- 10 almonds (chopped)
- 10 cashews (chopped)
- 2 tablespoons raisins
- 1 teaspoon ghee (optional)
Wash the rice thoroughly and soak for 15–20 minutes. Drain before cooking.
Heat milk in a heavy-bottom pan and bring it to a gentle boil.
Add soaked rice and cook on low heat while stirring occasionally.
Cook for 30–40 minutes until rice becomes soft and milk thickens.
Add sugar and stir until dissolved.
Add cardamom powder and saffron.
Add almonds, cashews, and raisins.
Serve warm or refrigerate and serve chilled.
