For the Burger Patties
- 2 pounds ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
For the Whiskey Glaze
- ½ cup whiskey
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup barbecue sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
For Assembly
- 4 brioche burger buns
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 1 large tomato, sliced
- 1 red onion, sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine whiskey, brown sugar, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard. Simmer for 8–10 minutes until thickened. Set aside.
Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and shape into thick patties. Season both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Heat a cast-iron skillet or grill over high heat. Sear the patties for 1 minute per side, remove briefly, then repeat the process two more times. This creates a deeply caramelized crust while maintaining a juicy interior.
During the final sear, place cheddar cheese on top of each patty and allow it to melt.
Butter the brioche buns and toast them until golden brown.
Spread a generous amount of whiskey glaze on the buns. Add lettuce, tomato, onion, and the cheeseburger patty.
Serve immediately with extra whiskey glaze on the side.
