For the Tteokbokki
- 500 g Korean rice cakes (tteok)
- 4 cups water or Korean anchovy stock
- 4–5 fish cake sheets, sliced
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 2 green onions, cut into large pieces
- 2 boiled eggs, optional
For the Spicy Sauce
- 3 tablespoons gochujang
- 1 tablespoon gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes)
- 1½ tablespoons soy sauce
- 1½ tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon corn syrup or honey
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Make the Sauce
In a small bowl, combine the gochujang, gochugaru, soy sauce, sugar, corn syrup, and minced garlic. Mix until the ingredients form a smooth sauce.
Finish and Serve
Add the green onions and boiled eggs during the final few minutes of cooking. Transfer the Tteokbokki to serving bowls and garnish with sesame seeds.Serve immediately while warm and enjoy!
