For the Buttermilk Marinade
- 2 pounds chicken thighs, drumsticks, or breasts
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
For the Barbecue Glaze
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
In a large bowl, whisk together buttermilk, garlic, paprika, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
Add chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight for best flavor.
In a small saucepan, combine barbecue sauce, honey, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar. Simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
