Ingredients
  

  • For the Chocolate Cake:
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • For the Cake Pops:1 batch of chocolate cake (from the above ingredients), cooled
  • 1 cup chocolate frosting
  • 1 package of candy melts (chocolate or color of your choice)
  • Lollipop sticksSprinkles or decorative toppings (optional)

Instructions
 

  • For the Chocolate Cake:
    Prepare the Cake Batter:
    Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add Wet Ingredients:
    Add the eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients.Mix until well combined.
  • Pour in Boiling Water:
    Gradually add the boiling water to the batter while stirring. The batter will be thin, but that's okay.
  • Bake:
    Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9x13-inch baking pan.Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool completely.
  • For the Cake Pops:
    Crumble the Cake:
    In a large bowl, crumble the cooled chocolate cake until it resembles fine crumbs.
  • Add Frosting:
    Mix in the chocolate frosting until the cake crumbs and frosting are well combined. The mixture should hold together when squeezed.
  • Shape into Balls:
    Roll the cake and frosting mixture into small, uniform-sized balls.
  • Insert Lollipop Sticks:
    Melt a small amount of the candy melts and dip the end of each lollipop stick into the melted candy.
    Insert the coated end of the stick into a cake ball.
  • Dip in Candy Melts:
    Melt the candy melts according to the package instructions.Dip each cake pop into the melted candy, coating it completely.
  • Decorate and Let Set:
    While the candy coating is still wet, decorate the cake pops with sprinkles or decorative toppings if desired.
  • Allow the cake pops to set by inserting the sticks into a foam block or upright in a glass.
  • Enjoy!
    Once the candy coating has hardened, your chocolate cake pops are ready to be enjoyed.
