Spicy Dragon Chicken Recipe

A crispy and spicy Indo-Chinese chicken dish coated in a rich, tangy sauce, perfect as an appetizer or side.

Ingredients
  

  • 250 gram boneless chicken (cut into thin strips)
  • 2 tbsp cornflour
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil (for frying)
  • 1 tbsp garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp ginger (minced)
  • 2-3 dried red chilies
  • 1/2 cup capsicum (sliced)
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 tbsp chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 tbsp spring onions (chopped, for garnish)

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, mix chicken strips with cornflour, all-purpose flour, egg, soy sauce, black pepper, and salt. Let it marinate for 10 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a pan and fry the marinated chicken strips until golden brown and crispy. Remove and set aside.
  • In another pan, heat 1 tbsp oil and sauté garlic, ginger, and dried red chilies until aromatic.
  • Add sliced capsicum and onion, and stir-fry for 2 minutes.
  • Mix tomato ketchup, chili sauce, soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, and red chili powder in a small bowl, then pour into the pan.
  • Add water and stir well. Let the sauce thicken slightly.
  • Toss in the fried chicken and mix until well coated with the sauce.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped spring onions.
  • Serve hot as an appetizer or with fried rice or noodles.

Notes

Adjust the spice level according to your preference by increasing or decreasing red chilies and chili sauce.
